LaTonya Neal is the current Associated Student Body President of Long Beach City College.
LOCAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY
Barbara Long Vice President of Government Relations and Special Projects for the Aquarium of the Pacific, is responsible for working with government officials and foundations regarding grants and other sources of major project funding as well as overseeing major projects such as Shark Lagoon, the Aquarium’s first master plan, the upcoming Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) environmental education classroom and animal hospital as well as watershed, animal care, and ports exhibits. She oversaw the Aquarium’s efforts to register its greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) with the California Climate Action Registry —the first museum in the nation to successfully do so—and is the executive sponsor for the Aquarium’s Green Team. She also managed the “Whales: Voices in the Sea” exhibit which received the American Association of Museums MUSE award. As a member of the senior management, Long also develops long-term goals and plans for the Aquarium, board administration, and serves as the corporate secretary.
Long served on to the City of Long Beach’s Green Ribbon Committee assisting the city in developing green building policy for private developer. She also was on the city staff’s Energy Efficiency Task Force. She serves on the California Association of Museum’s (CAM) Green Museum Initiative committee and has served on the American Association of Museum’s jury selecting the MUSE website award winners. She is on the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Circle of Wishes Council, the International Trade Education Programs board, and a member of Rotary.
Long came to the Aquarium in 2000 as a consultant and advisor to the board. With more than 20 years experience, she previously served as Deputy Executive Officer of Finance at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority overseeing budgeting, strategic planning and capital plan management. She also led the team that received a complimentary report from State of California auditors accessing the MTA’s debt policy and practices. Prior to that, she was a member of the Broadway Stores senior strategy team and served in a number of corporate capacities.
SENIOR CITIZENS’ ORGANIZATION
Ken Velten is a member of the Long Beach City College Foundation, Board of Governors, currently serving as Treasurer. He has been a resident of the City of Long Beach for the past 12 years. Mr. Velten retired from Boeing in 1999. Mr. Velten brings his extensive experience in finance and program management to the committee. He is a current member of the Rancho Los Cerritos Foundation and a former member of the Long Beach Airport Advisory Commission.
BONA FIDE TAXPAYERS ORGANIZATION
Sherri Ortman* is a member of the Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association, serving as both a founding Director of the Association and on six residents’ committees that address the issues and concerns of the Lakewood Village community. Ms. Ortman has been liaison between the Association and Long Beach City College, as well as a liaison with Long Beach City Council members and their staffs. Ms. Ortman is also a past chairperson of the Homeless Outreach Program of the Junior League of Long Beach.

William H. Marmion* has had extensive experience in community service for various Long Beach organizations as well as Long Beach City College. Mr. Marmion has served on the Long Beach Recreation Commission (President), LBS Financial Credit Union (Loan Committee), Miller Foundation (Director), St. Mary Medical Center (Trustee and Foundation Director), Long Beach Rotary Scholarship Foundation (President), and St. Mathew’s Church (Parish Finance Council President). Mr. Marmion has also served as Past President of the Long Beach City College Foundation, and was Chairman of the Citizen's Oversight Committee from 2002 to 2004.

Lexi Donovan is a Certified Public Accountant and has been a resident of the city of Long Beach since 2002. She received a BS degree at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and has over 10 years experience with community college districts, both as an auditor and employee. Currently she is self-employed, providing bookkeeping services for her clients. In addition, she is the Treasurer for the Sun ‘N Fun Creative Playgroup, a parent cooperative preschool, for which she volunteers countless hours, both inside the classroom and out. She served as the Treasurer of the 2008 Measure E Bond Campaign Committee.
